Uttarakhand, known as the Land of Gods, is a popular destination for pilgrims, particularly the Char Dham Yatra. This pilgrimage takes visitors to four sacred locations in the Himalayas: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The name ‘Char’ in Hindi means four, while ‘dham’ signifies holy places.

High-altitude shrines close annually, opening in summer and closing in winter. The Char Dham Yatra, a pilgrimage, begins in Yamunotri and continues to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The journey can be completed by air or road, with helicopter services available. Some devotees even travel to Kedarnath and Badrinath for the Do Dham Yatra.

The Yamunotri temple, located in Uttarkashi district, is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Gangotri, the most revered river in India, is worshipped in Uttarkashi. Kedarnath, a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, is in Rudraprayag district. Badrinarayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is in Badrinath. The Char Dham Yatra is a heavenly and challenging journey.
